I've gained a level in my character class.
The Academic Level Progression
Level Title
1 Graduate Student
2 All But Dissertation
3 Doctor!
4 Assistant Professor
5 Tenured
6 Associate Professor
7 Full Professor
8 Endowed Chair/Distinguished Professor
9 Professor Emeritus
As of today, I am level 5! (and expect to hear about level 6 in a couple of weeks).
This makes me a higher level academic than Indiana Jones who, understandably, was denied tenure.
Congratulations on being granted tenure!
ReplyDeleteHowever, your level advancement chart is flawed. Some of us skip over 2 & 3 and go right to 4. Perhaps that's the power of multi-classing with an MFA?
BTW, I used to teach at FMU in Florence, back in 2002-2004.
Congratulations! I'm level 4 by your ranking--but a don't know if academic clinical medicine has the same advancement table.
ReplyDeleteWoohoo! Fantastic news! I'm so happy for yOu. :)

@Trey: Yeah, I think you get to use the magic-user advancement table.
ReplyDelete@Professor: I forgot to mention I'm now level 6 by your chart. But that jump between 6 & 7 and between 7 & 8 requires a hell of a lot of XP. After that, it's a quick advancement to level 9. And you forgot level 10: Lich Lord (every department has at least one).
Congrats on leveling up!
ReplyDelete@ Matthew & Trey -- I think it's actually easier to model academia in 3E, with it's ease of multi-classing and prestige classes, but I didn't want to go there.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the congrats, everyone!
